[Bearbeiten] Cousins' Status More Important Than Griffin

Aug 19,The Rise And Fall Of A Startup Mansion, 2013; Landover, MD,Rape Victim in Spain Receives Call from Pope Francis, Says &, USA; Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins (12) is tended to by the training staff after suffering an apparent foot injury during the first half against the Pittsburgh Steelers at FedEX Field. Kirk Cousins sprained foot Monday Night might be the biggest concern for the Washington Redskins at this point, and furthermore might be even more important than Robert Griffin III s return. In most cases the backup quarterback is the second best player on the team, and with Griffin s knee that statement couldn t be more true for the Washington Redskins.

Mike Shanahan told media after the game Monday Night that Kirk Cousins suffered a mild mid-foot sprain which in his eyes was a good sign. That of course however isn t always the case, as a similar thing was said last season with wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who later would miss half of the 2012 season.

He however did admit that they can t rule out a Lisfranc injury, but rather they just don t feel like that s what it is:

Well, I asked the same question. I asked if it was a possibility because we felt that way last time C it said the X-rays were negative, and it wound up being a Lisfranc. But they dont feel that way at this time.

As Redskins fans might recall, rookie Safety Phillip Thomas suffered a season ending Lisfranc Tear the first preseason game against the Tennessee Titans who they originally thought had a sprained foot. Most recently Le Veon Bell, the running back for the Steelers suffered a Lisfrancinjury Monday Night, and reports are he could also miss the entire 2013 season.

With Kirk Cousins being the only thing between Robert Griffin III and Rex Grossman starter, it s important that the Redskins approach this with the best eye possible. That however could be a tough task as the medical staff in recent years hasn t always had the best track record.

From Adam Archuleta s bad back automatically being back to normal, Pierre Garcon s small foot injury that should have caused him to miss one game,Phoenix Haboob Covers City In Sand [VIDEO - YouTube News - Latin Post_0], resulting in half the season, to Robert Griffin III being allowed back onto the field during the Seattle game.

Depending on how Robert Griffin III performs this season (as some experts have said he ll miss at least three games), Kirk Cousins will need to be the go to guy, as he s proven,DMV's clever Twitter response to complaint proves popular, and has won twice with the Redskins already in place of Robert Griffin III.

Rex Grossman is the last player fans want to see on the field, even though he so far as had a pretty impressive preseason. The issue however is you feel you can win with Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins, that automatically disappears with Rex Grossman,If Chiefs' QB Smith Goes Down, Daniel Must Remain Backup Over Bray, which was seen during the Tennessee game, when the offense appeared to have given up.

Kirk Cousins right now should be given more attention than possibly Robert Griffin III, assuming he is truly as far along as he is and undoubtedly ready for Week 1 (Washington denied any reports of Dr. Andrews saying Griffin shouldn t play before Week 6).

If Kirk Cousins is lost for the season as Phillip Thomas was, the Redskins could be in a bad position if Robert Griffin suffers any type of injury that requires him to miss games. Unlike last season, the Redskins won t be fortunate enough to have a not so tough schedule, as teams in the NFC East are expected to be better, not to mention the other opponents.

[Bearbeiten] World War II veteran from South China, shot down over France

But what really terrifies him is that maybe it was all for nothing. As Kramer takes stock of the world around him, he can feel the dream of peace slipping away. Kramer is 93 now and spends his days in quiet at his home in South China, but he s still fighting; fighting to keep his dream alive,Scenes from Round 1 of the 2013 US Open_1, in himself and for anyone who will listen.

Anything is possible if you put your heart into it, he said.
U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud,[1], D-2nd District, recognized Kramer for his service Thursday during a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of Kramer s final bombing run and subsequent escape to freedom. Michaud presented Kramer with a plaque bearing a Congressional Letter of Commendation. The commendation lauds Kramer s efforts to save the lives of his crew and his leadership.
I want to thank you for your service to this great nation, Michaud said. It s heartwarming to be here.
Michaud also presented Kramer with a flag that had previously flown over the U.S. Capitol.
I accept this, but only for those who didn t come back, Kramer said, his voice filled with emotion.
Retired Maine State Police Col. Craig Poulin, who has known Kramer for more than 50 years,Zach Johnson happy to be back on PGA Tour after best man dut, said his friend is a humble man who had to be convinced to take part in Thursday s ceremony. Poulin said people need to remember Kramer s story, and countless others that emerged from World War II, so they will not take freedom for granted. Poulin has heard some of Kramer s stories during the twice-weekly coffee meetings the men have.
He says, What it really was all about was making sure people could get up and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning without bombs falling on their heads, Poulin said.
Kramer was a 23-year-old first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Forces on his seventh bombing mission on Sept. 6, 1943, when the B-17 bomber he was piloting, Lone Wolf, was shot down by German fighter planes over France while returning from a bombing run to Stuttgart, Germany.
It was a mission that never should have been made, he says now.
Kramer was a squad leader charged with keeping an eye out for 11 other planes.
We lost every one of them, he said, taking a moment to contain his emotion.
Kramer parachuted to safety, landing near the town of Troyes, about 150 miles southeast of Paris.
Kramer, recalling events during an Army debriefing in October 1943, said he walked two hours before coming within sight of a small village. He remained hidden on a knoll overlooking the village.
I had a few burns and cuts, which I tried to cover with the paper from the tablets in my aids box, Kramer wrote in the report. At dusk, I walked along the back of the village,[2], and while passing the barn of the last house, I ran into a farmer. I was only a few feet away when I first saw him. Without speaking he took one look and led me by the arm into his house. While being led I explained what the farmer already knew, that I was an American flyer.
Members of the French Resistance spent the next several weeks guiding Kramer from one safe house to another.
On the third day one of my helpers brought a note from another member of my plane who was hidden several miles away,'Scandal' season 3 promo- The battle begins, Kramer wrote in his report. My friends told me that other members of my crew were safe and I would see them eventually.

[Bearbeiten] Beyond Damboa... Borno marches steadily towards peace

They waited despite the downpour,Buffalo Bills news, 8-31- Eric Wood extension, roster cuts o, drenched from head to toe; they followed him dripping and chanting. Young men with sticks and daggers, old men folding their ‘Babban Riga’ (flowing gown) and women trying to catch a glimpse of their governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, who had come to commiserate with the people of Damboa Local Government in Borno State over the attacks and killings in the local government by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

At a time that peace was gradually returning to the local government and the people seemed to have resolved to protect their lives and properties in the face of constant attack by the insurgents, the chord of peace was snapped again, with the latest of the attacks leaving 11 persons dead with shops and 37 vehicles burnt.

It would be recalled that the attacks in the local government council has led to massive exodus of people, particularly non-indigenes and government officials, from the local government. The once-vibrant town in term of commercial activities prior to the insurgence has become desolate but for the visit of the governor, who drew a crowd of politicians, media and security operatives to encourage the people. And that visit, apart from consoling the people, served as tonic for the few who have resolved to fight the insurgents with the last drop of their blood.

The governor’s visit opened up the space in a community which had practically become a no-go area to many people,Saturday’s college football TV schedule, giving people a first-hand experience of how the insurgence has ravaged Damboa, turned the lives of many residents to living hell and also toughened the youths to take literally take their security into their hands.

The creation of the youth volunteer group called ‘Civilian JTF’ is said to have begun to make meaning in the fight against Boko Haram in a town where all the ‘Boko’ (educated) people were forced to leave or die by the blade. Teachers were killed for being teachers, medical workers alike and others for what they believe in.

Fierce-looking, agile and battle-ready, the ‘people’s soldiers’ of Borno were seen marching with their weapons of war in salute to the visiting governor but their mien reminded people of the fears being expressed in many quarters about the fallout of their voluntary exercise to rid the state of Boko Haram insurgence.

Analysts and political observers have noted that the massive enrolment of unemployed youth as volunteers in fighting insurgency in the state would open up doors for young men to hold all sources of deadly weapons which could be used to foment trouble against the people they seemed to be protecting.

Sunday Tribune gathered that already, the youths are not only being used as a tribune but also as political foot soldiers soon to be unfolded, as the clock ticks towards the 2015 general elections.

But for now, the youth volunteers are being applauded by all and the state government has promised that it would work towards ensuring that the youths are placed properly for their tomorrow so that they do not become another evil for the society.

If Shettima’s visit to Damboa was designed to be a condolence visit,Corper honoured in Zamfara for building school •Gets chiefta, it soon lost that semblance with the youth’s chanting and calling on the governor to remember them now and for the future. His posters along with his deputy had flooded the streets of Damboa as if he had not only gone there to commiserate with the people, but to triumphantly enter the town to rollout his campaigns for 2015.

“2015: Sai Kashim, Sai Zannah”, people chanted, with an observer maintaining that they were rented voices. It was learnt that the position of the deputy governorship of the state is being contested with the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa, who has been trying to wow the governor to pick him as running mate.

Speaking with Alhaji Husaini Damboa, a stakeholder in the local government, he told Sunday Tribune that Governor Shettima meant everything to the people for his humane approach to situations.

According to him,24 Youths Killed, 36 Others Missing in Boko Haram Ambush, Ar, although the governor came to commiserate with the people over the unfortunate circumstances they have been through, the people felt that his deputy was equally moving with the same spirit of kindness which informed their call on the governor to continue with him in 2015 in spite of agitation in some quarters.

He said, “the deputy governor was here when we were attacked, when the Boko Haram killed our hunters, he has also been committed to the good people of Damboa. During the fasting period, he sent food items to cushion the suffering of the few that were left in this town. He encouraged us to form Civilian JTF, which has helped us when the Boko Haram came recently to attack us and we gave them back blood for blood. Before, we ran away whenever they came but he talked to our youths and promised that government would always come to our aid and we have seen that everything he told us, he always fulfilled.”???? ?

Damboa said the people believed that the Kashim Shettima/Zannah Umar team was a good team and should remain as such, saying: “We have never experienced a change of deputy governor in Borno and we do not believe that those who are calling for the change mean well for the state. We understand that the commissioner for religious affairs, Usman Durkwa is interested. We really do not have anything against him or his ambition but we felt that he is coming at a wrong time.”

Speaking on why they turned a condolence visit to a political one, Damboa, who said they were part of General Muhammadu Buhari’s Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) which is now part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Damboa Local Government, noted that they did it because they were also desirous of the government’s acknowledgement as part of the same family. He revealed that there were agitations even among some former office holders in the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the state, as they were already falling over each other to maintain their position or to gain a better place.

But the governor would not be drawn into the political game, he stuck to his gun and did what he had gone to Damboa—commiserate with the people. While commiserating with the elders and people of Damboa,Reasons to enjoy goodness of avocado pears 1, Governor Shettima made them to understand that his administration was one with human face, which would not shy away from the people who made it possible for them to come to power.

He promised to continue to assist the people in whatever way to bring back peace in the area.

The governor, who gave two Toyota Hilux vehicles to the youth volunteer group to help them in their efforts to secure their area, also urged them to work together to ensure peaceful coexistence in the area.

He also visited the areas of the attack and directed the elders to select people who would come to Maiduguri for a meeting with the governor on several issues raised during the visit.? ?

[Bearbeiten] Back through the keyhole... but missing the key to its succe

Through The Keyhole *** The Andrew Marr Show ****
David Frost always had an immaculate sense of timing. His death from a heart attack, aboard a cruise ship, came just hours after the launch of his rebooted panel game classic, Through The Keyhole (ITV, Saturday). In a perfect world, he would have died aboard Concorde, but the Queen Elizabeth is a good makeshift. Either way, his exit ensured that the world was talking about the Master, and not his upstart successor Keith Lemon. Sir David in his prime was a man with a self-belief so powerful that, like gravity, it could shape the world around itself. He could convince American presidents to sit for interviews lasting half a day. He could launch entire TV stations.

Fun and glitzy: Keith Lemon appears in an updated version of Through the Keyhole and has a somewhat different way of touring celeb's homes compared to his predecessors

Keeping us watching Through The Keyhole for 20 years was child s play to him. The format never changed. Loyd Grossman, a New Englander with an accent that sounded like a tape running backwards, would lead us up the garden path to some celebrity home and ask: Whooo lives in a haaas loike thisss? We d get a tour of some glossy rooms, stumble across a few clues, then go back to the studio, where Sir David would reveal the mystery householder to viewers, and a panel would guess his or her identity.

Perfect hosts: Sir David Frost and Lloyd Grossman on Through the Keyhole.

New host Keith Lemon has got Frost s ego, Grossman s speech impediment and one added twist: he isn t real. The lisping, fake-tanned medallion man is the creation of comedian Leigh Francis, who has been building his fame for the past 12 years, on shows such as Bo Selecta! and Celebrity Juice. If you don t like cheap TV with low-rent celebs, scripted ad libs and an audience that applauds on cue like trained seals, this is the sort of show you really won t like at all. And without the insouciance of Sir David, it s easier to see what a flimsy piece of telly this really is. Still, like Lemon s lam suits, flimsy material can still be fun and glitzy. The presenter blows kisses at the camera, as he scatters malapropisms left and right. And now, he exclaims,Joanne Froggatt takes centre stage at a photo, with further ado, let s go Froot Keyhole! Through the clue hole! Look at them fingerines is them cluesisies? Stop yer messin and start yer guessin! He lies on the celebs beds, and runs his toes through their shag pile Ooo! Abominable Snowman carpet. Impressive! And then he hauls the homeowners before the panel for more ritual humiliation. John Prescott took the banter like a good sport,Ozil will develop at Arsenal, but Olympic gymnast Louis Smith was completely baffled. Lemon claimed he had trodden in a pile of dung from Louis s pommel horse. Louis, not one of life s halogen lightbulbs, was sure this couldn t be right,Not the best disguise! Police hunt for woman seen wearing fa, because a pommel horse is a piece of gymnastic equipment. PHOTOFIT FACE OF THE WEEK
Sharon Osbourne s new look on The X Factor (ITV) appears to have been assembled from parts of other judges faces. She had Cheryl Cole s wide mouth, Nicole Scherzinger s bovine eyes and Gary Barlow s square jaw. She must have really wanted that job back!

Lemon was unrelenting. He wanted to know what Louis fed his pommel horse. Sweat, said Louis, looking as if he might start crying. And chalk. Another long-running staple of the schedules, The Andrew Marr Show (BBC1, Sunday), has continued while its host was recovering from the stroke he suffered last January, but it always felt lacking without him. Yesterday Marr returned, his charm and gravitas undamaged by the illness which has left him leaning heavily on a stick. His sense of humour was also undamaged. At one moment, the Archbishop of York John Sentamu earnestly urged Marr s friends to pray for his continued recovery. The presenter grasped his own, inert left arm by the wrist and lifted it into Sentamu s hand. Perhaps you could heal this, he joked.

Andrew Marr returned to front his show yesterday, his charm and gravitas undamaged by the stroke which has left him leaning heavily on a stick

Marr has always had a tinder-dry wit. Clearly, disability has not dampened it,Israelis, Palestinians in landmark football talks 0, or inclined him to self-pity. The Andrew Marr Show is a bit of a ragbag. Schedulers tend to stuff it with stray bits and pieces the news bulletins, the weather reports,Alexandra Burke suffers serious fashion fail in skintight la, the film reviews, the programme plugs. But Marr also has the weight to draw major politicians, and the dogged questioning technique to cut through their defences in interviews. Yesterday he cross-examined Chancellor George Osborne and Shadow Foreign Secretary Douglas Alexander and took no nonsense from either. Good to have him back.

[Bearbeiten] UE alumni blast 'unfair treatment' of suspended players 3

The University of the East’s alumni association has come to the aid of its beleaguered men’s basketball team.

In a three-page letter sent to Yahoo! Philippines Tuesday, University of the East Alumni Association Inc. (UEAAI) called the attention of the UAAP Board and league commissioner Chito Loyzaga for “justice, fairness and due process” for its suspended players, prized center Charles Mammie and wingman Ralf Olivares, who were both hit with two-game suspensions.

UEAAI called the bans on Mammie and Casajeros “instances of unfair treatment towards the members of the UE Red Warriors-Men’s Basketball Team across the ongoing UAAP 76 men’s basketball tournament.”

According to UEAAI, Mammie was “unceremoniously slapped with a two-game suspension” by Loyzaga, who insisted the Sierra Leone native “had intention to hurt” Far Eastern U star Terrence Romeo in the course of the Tamaraws’ 98-94 double overtime win last August 25.

“Even though the alleged offense was never called by any of the game’s referees—one of whom was at the very scene of the supposed infraction—the UAAP Commissioner, reportedly after reviewing by himself the game on video, deemed it as deserving of a penalty. And just like that,Not sure if coach is trying to instill a sense of urgency bu, without giving the parties involved the benefit of due process and, apparently, without consulting the UAAP Board’s own Technical Committee, the Commissioner went ahead and meted a two-game suspension upon Mr. Mammie,Robin Thicke makes a splash with his son Julian on a water s,” the UEAAI stated.

The group likewise called for “due process” on Olivares, who was assessed a technical foul and an unsportsmanlike foul in UE’s 73-81 loss against National U last Saturday.

RELATED:

“While Mr. Olivares’ technical fouls and unsportsmanlike behavior in the team’s August 31, 2013, were actually called during the game, and while his actions are not inarguable, we respectfully deem it unjust that the young man was dealt by the Commissioner with his own two-game suspension sans the benefit of due process,” the UEAAI stated.

Both Mammie and Olivares will be out on Wednesday when UE,Man Shot in Leg Early this Morning Near Judkins Park, No Sus, running at sixth with a 5-5 mark, tries to arrest a two-game losing skid and keep its Final Four hopes alive against streaking La Salle at 4 o’clock at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Up in arms, the alumni association also blasted the way the league handles the case of other schools’ players.

“Adding insult to injury is the highly visible fact that such supposed offenses by UE players have likewise been committed by members of a number of other UAAP member-schools’ players, yet those other schools’ own offenders either have had much lighter penalties or none at all.”

The group, though, did not mention the names of any of these other players or schools.

Aside from its effects on the court, UEAAI also added the suspensions on UE’s players will affect the image of the school’s community.

“By extension, those suspensions also impact on the athletes’ own fellow UE students and,Counterpoint to the counterpoint, which is the point, on Dav, even further, to UE’s workforce — officialdom,Arsenal and Tottenham fans hit out at clubs following th tra, faculty members and other personnel — and, much further, to the university’s numerous alumni,” stated the group.

CHARLOTTE,Swing of styles highlights the Detroit Jazz Festival 0, N.C. -- It's been one year since thousands of people flooded into Charlotte as the Democratic National Convention got under way.
It seems impossible. Democratic mayoral Candidate Patrick Cannon said, It doesn t seem like it, seems like it was just here yesterday.
A year ago, Charlotte was gearing up to welcome the world to the Democratic National Convention.

It was a game changer for Charlotte, obviously redefined who we are globally, Republican candidate Edwin Peacock said.

There were the parties and the protests, famous faces and political heavyweights.
Mother Nature was memorable, too, though for all the wrong reasons.
But the big take away?
Peacock said,Cardinals vs. Rams opening line- Arizona are 4, We got this monkey off our back to say, who is Charlotte? I don t think we have to put North Carolina at end of our name anymore.
Some will say we made a case for hosting other bigger events like the Super Bowl or even the Olympics.
Cannon said, We re looking for some good things yet to come as a result of DNC coming here.
But not enough hotel rooms, perhaps the biggest challenge during the DNC, remains an issue.
Still, the most annoying part of the convention-- the fences, seems a distant memory now.

Those barricades were everywhere but you know what,Prodigal CEO- Stephen Elop returns to Microsoft with Nokia a, we were a safe place,Video- Getting Started with Solaris 7 Device Names & Fil, Cannon remembers.
